Christian Merli won the Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM in the 46th edition of Alpe del Nevegal, the first round of the Italian Mountain Speed Championship. Not only that, but he demolishes the track record after winning both Race 1 and 2. For the Blue City Motorsport Team driver, it was his fifth win in the Bellunese time trial.
The Satisfaction of Merli
"It wasn't easy. In Race 1 Beggioli started at number 19 and after seeing his time it was difficult to stay focused until our turn. I climbed up hard and swerved into a bend. I was in disbelief that I had done that time. Record and win. In Race 2 everything spun at its best and we lowered the time of the track even further. I am very happy and I thank Giuliano, Cinzia and the friends who have helped me in the last twenty days. I certainly do not forget the work of the Petriglieri brothers for the preparation of the engine, Avon for the tyres and Osella. A great teamwork."
The evidence
The 46th Alpe del Nevegal in the province of Belluno, opened the Italian Mountain Speed Championship 2020. Two heats of the 5,500-kilometer race fallone. In the first heat of official tests, the best time is Christian Merli in 2:26.99, followed by Simone Faggioli on Norma M20 FC at 6:88. Second pass with the European champion in the lead in 2:26.03 which lowers his record. Beech is behind at 2"1.
The race
In Race 1, the official Osella rider led in 2:23.01 and broke the track record. The Tuscan of the Standard is behind him at 47 cents of a second. Race 2 and Christian Merli prints a 2:22.66. New track record and fifth victory at Nevegal. Behind him is Beech at 2:31.
