Christian Merli wins the 55th Luigi Fagioli Trophy, the second round of the Italian Mountain Speed Championship. Two heats of 4,150 kilometers and a difference of 270 meters. Departure from Gubbio and arrive at Madonna della Cima. The Blue City Motorsport Team driver, behind the wheel of his Osella FA 30 Zytek LRM, has always been in command both in practice and in the race.
Christian, second race and second victory in the tricolor
"A victory that I dedicate with my heart to Pio Nicolini. Pilot and friend who left us prematurely last week. For the race I congratulate the organizers who did a fantastic job. It hasn't rained here for a long time and the asphalt was very slippery. In Race 1 I made some mistakes because Beech was very close. I thought I could do better in the second pass. Anyway, it was a wonderful duel played on the pennies line. I am very happy and now we move 300 kilometers to the south to participate in the 58th edition Of Peoples in Abruzzo scheduled for Sunday, August 30th. A time trial where my last participation was in 2010."
The evidence
In the first official reconnaissance Christian Merli is 1st ahead of Domenico Cubeda and Simone Faggioli. Diego Degasperi was fifth at 6:33. On the second pass the rider Fiavetano is in the lead followed by the Sicilian Cubeda at 2:96 and Faggioli, third, at 3"10.
The Race
Today with sunshine and high temperatures, Race 1. On arrival, in Madonna della Cima, for 21 cents wins Merli on Beech. In the afternoon Race 2 with a spectacular duel and the Trentino champion with Beech is only 0"39.
